Both Hermiston and Boardman youth wrestling programs started their seasons Saturday at the Riverside Kids Wrestling tournament in Boardman.

Part of the ORWAY (Oregon Wrestling Association for Youth) circuit, the Boardman tournament had nearly 300 competitors from around the region, including the Tri-Cities, Milton-Freewater, LaGrande, Othello (Wash.), Enterprise, Union, Baker, Elgin, Irrigon and Pendleton.

For the Hermiston club, 13 competitors came away with championships. Octavis Purnell, Isasis Walsh, Garrett Hendon, Hayden Hilliard, Austin Garcia, AJ Tuia, Cyrus Shaver, CJ Hendon, Brock McDonough, Jake Palmer, John Henry Line ans Sam Colbray all took home gold.

Boardman had six title-winners on the day. Hans Rockwell, Elijah Conlon, Ethan Synder, Hunter Dyer, Erick Zavala and Alyssa Luna all won titles.

Cade Adams from Irrigon also won a tournament championship.
