If Larry Ushers team was too aggressive on defense during the trip to Lewiston last weekend, then the complete opposite took place during a 69-48 loss in Moses Lake (Wash.) on Wednesday.
Especially in the second quarter, Usher said, was when the Chiefs had their way with the Bulldogs, turning a 9-8 deficit into a 35-27 lead by halftime and never looking behind them.
Austin Boedigheimer led Hermiston scorers with 14 points. Guards Joey Burns and Kurt Simmons each scored 11 while Trevor Phillips had six points. Alex Ortiz also scored six points in the loss.
Moses Lake forced the Bulldogs into 19 turnovers and outrebounded them 36-25, most of the coming on the offensive end in the second quarter. The Chiefs shot 53 percent from the field, with Matt Franz leading the way with 15 points. Max McDonald and Gabe Porter each had 10 for Moses Lake.
After Fridays game at Kamiakin, Hermiston hosts Southridge at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
