The Echo Cougars volleyball team bounced back after a heartbreaking defeat Friday with a league win Saturday against Arlington.

Echo won in straight sets, 25-17, 25-12 and 25-13.

Head coach Janice Scott noted the intensity wasn’t as high Saturday as it was Friday, but her team did a lot of good things on the court.

“We were a totally different team than what we showed Friday night,” she said. “I thought we played well at the net, and we moved around the floor a lot. We played together as a team. It just wasn’t as intense as the game before.”

Scott did say she was pleased to get back on the winning track.

“It’s always great to get a win,” she said. “We want to finish strong. You do that by winning matches you are suppose to win.”

The Cougars played matches on three consecutive nights, winning the first and third matches during that stretch.

Scott said playing back-to-back-to-back nights always presents an interesting challenge for a team.

“These matches are more mentally exhausting than physically,” Scott said. “Friday took so much out of our team. You could definitely see how that affected our play today.”

The Cougars take on Arlington again 6 p.m.Thursday at Echo in what will be the Cougars’ final league match of the season.
