Hermiston placed seventh at the Tri-State wrestling tournament at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene over the weekend and brought home two individual championships.

Freshman Tyler Berger rolled throught the 125-pound bracket, taking out a pair of Washington state placers, North Central’s Jared Berlinger (6-2) and Central Valley’s Jarod Maynes (8-6), to advance to the finals.

Once in the final, he didn’t take long to claim the crown, pinning Ares Carpio of Todd Beamer High School in the first round.

Junior Joey Delgado won the other title for the Dawgs, cruising through the 130-pound weight class before dispatching Orting’s Antonio Brown in the final, 9-2.

Senior Curtis Berger lost a heartbreaker in the 189-pound final, a triple-overtime 2-1 decision to University’s Dustin Johnson.

Berger defeated Johnson in the finals of the Inland Empire tournament in Spokane the weekend before.

Senior Bryce McMahon wrestled back after losing his opening match to place seventh.

Hermiston scored 141.5 points, just two points out of a top-5 finish. Mead (Wash.) won the meet with 162 points. University (Wash.) finished second with 159.5.
