Three area performers received high honors Sunday, Sept. 5 at the Oregon State Fair in Salem.

Liam Moore, 8, and Daytona Tracy, 7, Hermiston residents featured in the Saturday, Aug. 28 edition of the Hermiston Herald, won first place in the children’s division at the talent show.

The tap-dancing duo won a total of $1,250 in cash and prizes for their efforts, which included a similar routine as the one that entertained patrons at the Muddy Frogwater Festival and Hermiston’s Got Talent events earlier this summer.

Madison Combe, a 9-year-old Heppner resident, won second place in the children’s division with her performance of “Suds in the Bucket,” a song by Sara Evans that reached the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country chart in 2004.

Combe won the privilege to perform at the state fair after winning the Morrow County Fair talent competition earlier this summer.
