HERMISTON — Chapter CV of the Hermiston P.E.O. organization is pleased to announce Carla Medel as the recipient of its annual $1,000 local scholarship. Carla, a 2017 graduate of Hermiston High School, recently completed her first year of college at Oregon State University, where she is majoring in psychology and minoring in Spanish with the career goal of serving others as a juvenile therapist.

Carla is a first-generation college student who completed her first year at Oregon State with an overall GPA of a 3.4 and glowing recommendations from her instructors. It is an honor to invest in her as she continues her education.

The P.E.O. is an international organization with the mission of supporting the educational endeavors of women. Locally, Chapter CV of Hermiston offers a variety of scholarship opportunities, one of which is this $1,000 scholarship offered annually to women of the West End of Umatilla County (Hermiston, Stanfield, Echo, and Umatilla) who are graduating seniors or current college students. These women must be in good scholastic standing and have a desire to reach their educational goals. This scholarship is available from the local high school counselors every spring.
