A 17-year-old was taken into custody Wednesday by Hermiston Police and later released after the juvenile reportedly was found brandishing a knife.

The incident occurred at about 4:53 p.m. in the parking lot of the Bi-Mart store, 200 S. First Place. A switchblade knife and a pipe containing burnt residue were found on the juvenile after a "pat down" by the Hermiston Police Department, according to a police report.

The juvenile was transported to the HPD station for processing, then cited and released to his father.

Hermiston PD received an initial report of three individuals who were causing a disturbance in the Bi-Mart parking lot.

Officers arrived and found just one juvenile. The others likely had fled, according to HPD personnel.
