Airman First Class Geoffrey Herd and Makila Grella were married in a double ring ceremony Aug. 14, 2010, at Change Point Church in Anchorage, Alaska. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her brother, Staff Sergeant Cody Grella, and her father, Master Sergeant Bryan Grella, officiated during the ceremony. She wore a Faille A-line gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and ruched bodice with side drape detail. The groom, the brides brother and her father all wore their dress blue uniforms. A reception followed featuring a Hawaiian barbecue. The couple resides at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.
Makila graduated from Robert Service High School, Anchorage, in 2004, and is currently employed as a claims assistant for a workers compensation insurance company in Anchorage. She is the daughter of Bryan Grella of Anchorage, Alaska, and LoAnn Nelson of Siletz.
Airman Herd graduated from Pendleton High School in 2009 and is presently serving in the Air Force at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage as an aircraft structural maintenance technician. He is the son of Lisa Herd of Stanfield and grandson of Ron and Margo Herd of Meacham.
A reception for family and friends is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17 at The Knights of Pythias hall, 11 S.E. Eighth St., in Pendleton. In lieu of gifts, gift cards are preferred due to luggage limitations.
