To the editor:

Hermiston has some of the most giving and compassionate people. Hard working, family, and wrestlers. Okay, football too. It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter.

Tonight, there wasn’t enough volunteers to keep the Hermiston Warming Station open. I saw several men and a young lady having to sleep in the cold weather tonight. Some asked me, how are we going to keep warm? And all I could say is I don’t know.

I am so sad, we work and have families too. And it doesn’t matter how they got in that situation, it matters that we all do the best we can to help. Can you volunteer one night a week? We would appreciate it and so will those that are in dire need. Thank you. And God bless you.
