Shirley Faye Elliot was born July 19, 1939, at Huntington, Oregon, to parents Dwight Stark and Gladys Dorothy (Smith) Lockett. She died Thursday, December 22, 2016, at her home in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 77.
Shirley was raised in Huntington and graduated from Huntington High School. She attend secretarial school for one year. She met her future husband, Donald Ray Elliot, at the Snake River Stampede Rodeo where she was a princess, and they were married April 6, 1958, in Ontario, Oregon. They moved to Hermiston in 1966.
Shirley was a homemaker and was the secretary for the Hermiston Gun Club for many years. She enjoyed all sports especially football and she loved rodeo especially bull riding. Her family loved her cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Donald Ray Elliot, in 2009.
She is survived by son Bret (Renee) Elliot of Hermiston, Ore.; daughter Renae Martin of Pendleton, Ore.; siblings Maxine Winebarger of Hermiston, Ore., Dwight “Chip” (Lela) Lockett of Huntington, Ore., and Darlene Lockett of Hermiston, Ore.; and grandson Austin Bret Elliot of Hermiston, Ore.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
