BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Sarah Joyce Huravitch, 79, of Big River, Calif., died Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Boulder City, Nev., in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20 at the Hermiston Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
Mrs. Huravitch was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Apopka, Fla., to Hubert and Ruby Edna (Willson) Odom. She was raised in Florida and had lived all over the state of California, including Stockton, Bakersfield, Happy Camp and Big River. In 1973 she married James Huravitch at Happy Camp, Calif.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Huravitch of Big River, Calif.; sons James H. "Pepper" Huravitch, Jr. of Fairfax, Va., and Teddy Huravitch of Reno, Nev.; daughters Linda Autry of Hermiston, Emily Towns of Coarse Gold, Calif., Margaret Estrada of Bakersfield, Calif., and Rebecca McCort of Brookings; brothers Calvin Odom of Stockton, Calif., and Norman Odom of Germany; sisters Orlin "Pat" Van Patton of Everett, Wash., and Jacqueline Mattera and Gloria Sherburne, both of Stockton, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry O. Cota in 1966; sister Betty Turnbull; and son-in-law Dennis Autry.
