Marion Berry

Marion Lucille Driskell Berry, 88, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the Jennings McCall Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 in at the Jennings McCall Center in the Mt. Jefferson Room, 2300 Masonic Way, in Forest Grove. Lodge rites will be under the direction of the Eastern Star Lodge in Forest Grove. Family burial rites will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 at the Summerville Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the ceremony.

Mrs. Berry was born Feb. 17, 1922, in the La Grande area to Anna and George Driskell. She married George Martin Berry in 1939.

She and her husband farmed in La Grande for several years. They lived in Pilot Rock and Helix before moving to Portland in 1965. She worked for the U.S. Postal service in Helix and while in Portland for Burlington Northern Railroad as a clerk. She retired in 1980 and moved to the Hermiston area. She moved to Jennings McCall in Forest Grove in 2000.

Mrs. Berry is survived by daughters Sharon Wilson of Hermiston, Karon McAlavy of Ukiah, A. Jane Berry-Eddings of Salem, G. Christine Jones of Hermiston and Margaret N. Hudson of Blaine, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1987; sisters Opal Graham of Wallowa and The Dalles and Mary Connor of La Grande; and brothers George William Driskell of La Grande, Arthur “Ted” Driskell of Iowa and Harold Tingay of Seattle.
