Karen Arbogast

SEATTLE — Karen K. Arbogast, 51, of Umatilla died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle as the result of an automobile accident. A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 at the Stanfield Baptist Church.

Mrs. Arbogast was born Aug. 29, 1959, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Keith and Beverly Yarnell Lamoreaux. She was raised in Idaho and Nebraska, and attended high school in La Grande before moving to Hermiston, where she graduated from Hermiston High School. She married Carl Arbogast in 1979 in Hermiston.

Carl joined the Air Force and his family traveled throughout his service. They returned to Hermiston in 1990 and then moved to Umatilla, where she has lived for the last 15 years. She and Carl opened their home to 33 foster children from 1995 to 2006.

She was an emergency room technician at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston. She also served as an EMT Basic with the Umatilla Fire Dept. for six years. She was in charge of the shops for Landing Days and Santa’s Christmas Shop. She and Carl also operated the fireworks display for the Landing Days in Umatilla and the Fourth of July show for Hermiston.

Mrs. Arbogast is survived by her husband Carl of Umatilla; sons Keith Arbogast and Scott Magnuson, both of Hermiston; daughters Candice Duncan of Umatilla and Dawn Harris of Coos Bay; brothers Rick Lamoreaux of Missouri and Craig Lamoreaux of Boise, Idaho; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
