J. Vivian Hayes

HERMISTON — J. Vivian Hayes, 96, of Hermiston died Thursday, June 16, 2011, in Hermiston. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 21 at 1 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Mrs. Hayes was born March 25, 1915, in Spring Hill, Kan., to Jesse and Mattie Payne Jobe. She was raised in Kansas and California. She married Rolland Hayes in 1932 in Los Angeles, Calif. They lived in Colton, Calif., before moving to Hermiston in 1948. 

She went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1952 as a waitress at the Hinkle Hotel, where she worked until retiring in 1979. 

Mrs. Hayes is survived by son Richard Hayes of Hermiston; daughters Sally Dunagan, Bonnie Hooker and Nancy Patrick, all of Hermiston; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother Robert; and sister Maxine.
