Dorothy Jones-Nolen

HERMISTON — Dorothy J. Jones-Nolen, 74, of Hermiston died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at her home. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Hermiston. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Skyview Memorial Park near Pendleton.

Mrs. Nolen was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Norwalk, Calif., to William and Ivy Smith Miller. She was raised in California and Nevada, graduating from Mineral County High School in Hawthorne, Nev. She went to work at the U.S. Navy Ammunition Depot in Hawthorne in 1967 as a munitions handler, and then transferred to the Umatilla Army Depot in Hermiston in 1980. 

She married Gene Nolen in 1985 in Stanfield. She retired in 1993 and later that year Gene passed away. She then worked for Beta Enterprise from 1994 until 1998.

Mrs. Nolen is survived by daughters Marlene Jasperson and Sherry Fischer, both of Hermiston; son David Jones of Reno, Nev.; brother John Miller of Hemet, Calif.; sister Betty Buxton of Goodyear, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Nolen; her parents, William and Ivy Smith Miller; son Ronald Jones; daughter Tammie Watson; grandson Austin Jones; brother William Miller; and sister Louise Linzer.
