Kenneth Ray Prindle Sr., lifelong Umatilla resident, died on November 6, 2013, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Richland, Washington, at the age of 63 years. He was born on May 19, 1950, in Condon, Oregon, to parents Harold and Joan Eddy Prindle. Ray was raised and attended schools in Umatilla, Oregon, graduating from Umatilla High School in the class of 1969. He was united in marriage to Linda M. Wilson on July 18, 1969, in Umatilla, Oregon.
Ray worked as a member of the Local Laborers Union for 17 years. He later worked for a time at the at AC Houghton in Irrigon and Umatilla High School. Ray then started Kenneth Ray Prindle Contracting, installing floor covering throughout the area right up to the time he passed away.
Ray worked hard his entire life and enjoyed helping others. He was a volunteer for the Umatilla Fire Department for 37 years and had served as the assistant fire chief. Rays hobbies included hunting and fishing, he was an avid sports fan, and he loved hanging out with his grandchildren and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters Tina Vandever and husband Steve, Umatilla, Ore., Tracie McCallister and husband Sean, Lakeview, Ore., Tonya Wilson and husband Gene, Umatilla, Ore.; son Kenneth Ray Prindle Jr. and wife Danette, Umatilla, Ore.; companion Shanon McBride, Umatilla, Ore., and her children Forrest and Courtney McBride; brother Ronald Prindle and his wife Cathie, Boardman, Ore.; sister Jeanne Kay Hanson and husband Don, Hermiston, Ore.; grandchildren T.J., Jessica, Ashley, Justin, Erica, Olivia, Amy, Tanner, Emme, Bethany and Chentelle; great-granddaughter Kynlee; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Prindle, and his parents.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Umatilla High School gym, Umatilla, Oregon.
