Gerald L. 'Jerry' Ruth

Gerald L. “Jerry” Ruth was born on September 7, 1960, in Portland, Oregon, to parents Ronald and Geraldine Tomlinson Ruth. He died on September 24, 2014, at his home in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 54 years.

Jerry was raised and attended school in Echo, Oregon, graduating in the class of 1979. He then attended BMCC where he earned his AA in diesel mechanics. Jerry worked for Farm Equipment Headquarters in Pendleton for a time and then worked for Morrow County Road Department for 18 years until his health forced him to retire in 2004.

He was united in marriage to Vicky Bursell on June 22, 1996, at the Kiwanis Cabins near Gibbon, Oregon. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, fixing things, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Vicky Ruth, Hermiston, Ore.; son Jacob Ruth and his wife Heather, Payette, Idaho; daughter Tiffany Whitford and her husband Mike, North Bend, Wash.; brother Lonnie Ruth and his wife Sue, Pendleton, Ore.; sister Shannon Rhodes and her husband Norm, Hermiston, Ore.; five grandchildren: Braxton, Landon, Kimber, Caleb and McKenzie; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Ruth.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Burns Mortuary chapel, Hermiston, Oregon. Burial will follow at the Echo Cemetery, Echo, Oregon.
