Don Leon Duncan was born July 18, 1946, at Perkins, Illinois, to parents Harold and Hattie Josephine (Holt) Duncan. He died Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Laramie, Wyoming, at the age of 67.
He was raised in Nampa, Idaho, and graduated from Nampa High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He married Linda Lou McGinley in 1970 in Nampa, Idaho, and they divorced in 1977. They had a daughter, Dawn Michelle. He moved to Irrigon, Oregon, in 1973 and has lived in the area since. He enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his Peterbilt truck, hunting, fishing and spending time watching his grandsons play sports.
He is survived by daughter Michelle Duncan-Luna and son-in-law Leo Luna of Irrigon, Ore.; stepchildren Jennifer Pohl of Bend, Ore., and Chris Silva of Spokane, Wash.; companion Len Pohl of Boardman, Ore.; brothers Darwin Duncan of Vancouver, Wash., and Darrell Duncan of Emmett, Idaho; sister Jeanne Duncan of Emmett, Idaho; seven grandchildren: Leon Luna and Isaiah Luna of Irrigon, Ore., Joel Luna, Esmeralda Espinoza and Jerry Ortega of Hermiston, Ore., Richard Ortega of Edinburg, Texas, and Emma Re of Bend, Ore.; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Hattie Jo Duncan, and brother Douglas Duncan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m.. at Burns Mortuary chapel in Hermiston, Oregon. Burial with military honors will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon, Oregon. There will be a gathering at Stokes Landing Senior Center in Irrigon following the burial.
