Dannie L. “Dan” Jones, 68, of Hermiston died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at his home. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Jones was born July 2, 1943, in Marysville, Calif., to Howard and Clara Miller Jones. He was raised and attended schools in Woodland and later Vancouver, Wash. 

He worked in logging for a few years and later in construction until he retired. He married Sandra G. Handy in 1968 in Woodland, Wash. They moved to Hermiston in 1978, where they have lived since. 

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Sandi Jones of Hermiston; children Sherry Vickaryous of Alaska, Dirklin Jones and Lori Miller, both of Longview, Wash., Edward Jones of Hamilton, Wash., Cynthia Vincent of Oklahoma and Christie Jones of Hermiston; brothers Aaron Jones of Montana and Loren Jones of Virginia; sister Marie Robinson of Medford; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Lula and Stella.
