Catharen Elizabeth Knutz

Catharen Elizabeth Knutz was born on September 29, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington, to parents Raymond and Glendora Bourcier Fry. She died on Monday, June 11th, 2012, at the Regency Hermiston Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hermiston at the age of 66 years.

She married Jack Knutz on July 30th, 1965, in McMinnville, Ore. They moved to Hermiston with their 3 children in 1975. Catharen was an active mother, grandmother and wife. She served steadily at the Hermiston First Church of the Nazarene. Catharen worked at the Hermiston High School as an office and library assistant from 2002 until 2007, when she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

She received a lung transplant in October of 2007 and was able to enjoy the rest of her life with her family.

Her hobbies included attending summer conferences at Cannon Beach conference center with her grandchildren, painting, attending church activities, watching her childrenÂ’s and grandchildrenÂ’s sporting events, reading and traveling to visit friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Glendora Fry.

Catharen is survived by her husband, Jackie (Jack) Howard Knutz; sons Darren (Lori) Knutz and Jason (Diane) Knutz; daughter Trisha (Steve) Hoofard; brother Louell Stricker; sister Margaret Rice; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hermiston First Church of the Nazarene at 1520 West Orchard Ave. in Hermiston.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hermiston First Church of the Nazarene.
