Barbara Ann Carrera

Barbara Ann Carrera was born on July 27, 1960, in Platte, South Dakota, to parents Anton and Viola Kolb Petrak. She died on January 13, 2016, at her home in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 55 years.

She was raised and attended school in Chamberlain, South Dakota, graduating in the class of 1978. Barbara was united in marriage to Jesus Carrera on November 28, 1980, in Chamberlain, South Dakota, and they moved to Hermiston, Oregon.

She worked at JR Simplot in Hermiston, Oregon, for 25 years. She operated a daycare for a few years and is an Avon representative. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Hermiston, Oregon. She enjoyed crocheting, soap operas, reality TV, camping, fishing, and cherished time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jesus Carrera, Hermiston, Ore.; son Tony Carrera and his wife Janelle, Hermiston, Ore.; daughter Jessica Blackford and her husband Jason, Portland, Ore.; brothers Melvin and Robert Petrak, both of Chamberlain, S.D.; sister Diana Bondurant, Hermiston, Ore.; grandchildren Dylan, Perrin, Payton, Layni and Portia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.

Recitation of the rosary will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Hermiston, Oregon. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 P.M. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
