HERMISTON — Zola C. Skyles died at home in Hermiston on Oct. 12, at the age of 98.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1908 in Memphis, Mo., Frederick Bessie Purvis Roland. Zola married Benjamin Skyles in 1928 and he preceded her in death. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was lovingly cared for in her last years by Bill Chapman.

She is survived by her grandsons, Alan Vandeman and Dean Stowell; a granddaughter, Cara Brooks; seven great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Zola was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Jean Chapman in 2006.

A private family gathering will be held. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of the arrangements.
