HERMISTON — Dr. Ken Peterson, 77, a chiropractor and naturopathic physician, says he is happiest when he can help someone.

That being the case, Peterson has been very happy these past 50 years. To celebrate his half-century in practice, Peterson's family will be holding a reception from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Cottage, 1725 N. Hwy. 395, Saturday.

Peterson says he loves every minute of his time spent in the Peterson Clinic, shared by his son, Dr. Kris Peterson, also a chiropractor.

"I can hardly wait until until Monday — the challenges," Peterson said. "On the weekend, I think, ?Will Monday ever come.' "

To Peterson, folks walking through the doors of his clinic are not just patients.

"They're friends and we want them to know that we love them," he said.

As a naturopath, Peterson says that he takes a natural path to health problems.

"We look at the body as a unit. We use holistic or alternative medicine," he said. "It's not alternative to us, we've been here forever. The world is just now calling it alternative."

The folks at the Peterson Clinic can treat any health problem. "Instead of drugs, we use natural medicine for things such as heart, chrome disease, allergies — you name it," Peterson said. "We don't use surgery."
