Thomas Wayne Whipple

May 1, 1944-April 14, 2001

HERMISTON — Thomas Wayne Whipple died Saturday, April 14, at his home in Hermiston at the age of 56.

Tom was born in Portland on May 1, 1944, to Earl and Violet Larsen Whipple. He had been a resident of Hermiston most of his life. He married his wife, Rhonda, on Jan. 3, 1973, in Hermiston.

Tom worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 31 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and reading. Tom served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda of Hermiston; daughter, Amber Whipple of Hermiston; brother, William Whipple of Lynnwood, Wash.; sister, Carol Brown of Umatilla; one niece; and two nephews.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 18, at the First Christian Church in Hermiston. Burial followed in the Hermiston Cemetery.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
