Jeannette Lee West

BOARDMAN — Jeannette Lee West died Friday, Jan. 18, at her home in Boardman at the age of 72.

Jeannette was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Brighton, Colo., to Drickus George and Vera Winifred (Schlemmer) Packer. She had been a resident of Boardman since 1984, formerly living in Sacramento, Calif. She was retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles in California and also worked at the Umatilla Army Depot in Hermiston and the Boardman Healthcare Center.

She married Dewey West at the Boardman Community Church on Feb. 14, 1997.

She was a member of the Boardman Chamber of Commerce, the Tillicum Club, the Friends of the Library and the Boardman Community Church. She enjoyed lifting weights and aerobics, but she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey West of Boardman; sons, Del Crowell of Richlands, Va., Loren Crowell of Boardman and Russell Crowell of West Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Jeanne Phillips of Franklin, N.C., Nona Strawderman of Boardman and Pamela A. Long of Vancouver, Wash.; brother, Deloy Packer of Redding, Calif.; sister, Roberta Killick of Sante Fe, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Drickus and Vera Packer, and grandchildren, Loren Crowell Jr. and Erika L. Crowell.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, at noon at the Boardman Community Church. Disposition was by cremation. A private family interment of cremains will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Boardman.
