HERMISTON — Described as "upscale apartment living," Beaverton developers Bob Panus and Dan Parkison are bringing a $5 million, 70-unit complex to Hermiston, scheduled for opening in June.

Parkison, who has done several projects throughout Oregon, said "We believe Hermiston is ready for this style of housing with all the upscale amenities that are seen in bigger places. Marketing studies we have done suggested to us that significant numbers of Oregon-based workers live in the Tri-Cities. We are going to have something here to bring them back home."

Parkison also referenced recommen-dations from several Hermiston businesses, institutions, and public officials, including Hermiston Mayor Bob Severson and Hermiston School Superintendent Jerry Wilson, as prime factors toward bringing the project into town at this time.

"To see this kind of support from a wide cross section of the community made a difference, and we could not identify another offering like this in the Hermiston area, which would be comparable to similar facilities in the Tri-Cities," he said.
