Chamber to host Halloween dog costume contest

The Umatilla Chamber of Commerce will welcome all types of dogs and silly costumes Oct. 26 for a Howl-O-Ween dog costume contest. The event will be held at 10 a.m. at West Park at McNary Lock and Dam. Dogs of all shapes and sizes are invited to attend the event with their owners. The cost to participate is $5 per dog, with a limit of three dogs. All dogs must be on a leash. Each dog that participates will receive a goodie bag filled with treats and have the chance to compete for best trick, best costume, funniest costume, scariest costume and most original costume. The event will also include a dog parade, and individuals are encouraged to dress up with their dogs.Tickets for the costume contest are available at the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce office, 100 Cline Ave. in Umatilla. Good Shepherd Medical Center will hold a Babysitting Basics class from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at GSMC in conference room 1.

Wednesday

The Healthy Communities Coalition will meet at noon Oct. 23 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in conference room 2. Thursday

The Umatilla Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at City Hall, 700 Sixth St., Umatilla.

Oct. 25

There will be no school Friday at McNary Heights Elementary School.

Nov. 5

The Umatilla City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at City Hall, 700 Sixth St., Umatilla.
