PENDLETON ¬ó The Hermiston Bulldog cross country teams destroyed the field at the Pendleton Cross Country Classic last week, winning both the girls and boys team titles.

Hermiston will run Thursday in Prineville before returning to Pendleton for the Intermountain Conference District Meet Oct. 27.

Running on a non-traditional course, with three hills, five Bulldog girls and four Bulldog boys placed in the top 10 in the event. The boys won with 29 points over second place The Dalles at 71. Baker was third with 80 points, Gresham was fourth at 83 and host Pendleton was fifth with 128.

The Hermiston girls had 33 points and Baker was second with 54. Gresham was third at 78, The Dalles fourth at 96 and Vale was fifth at 143.

Brian Horneck was the top runner in the field, just ahead of teammate Tommy Puzey. Horneck recorded a time of 17 minutes, 13 seconds for Hermiston while Puzey cam in at 17:15. Hermiston’s Josh Wicks was sixth in the field at 18:01 and Daniel Valdez was ninth overall with a 18:19.
