Richard Byron Stanley

IRRIGON — Richard Byron Stanley died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his home in Irrigon at the age of 64.

Richard was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Byron B. and Marjorie Dale (Williams) Stanley. He was raised in Corning, Iowa, and attended a military school where he earned an engineering degree. After college, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years.

On March 27, 1957, he married Wanda Jean Cook in Pasco, Wash. They moved to Irrigon in 1960 where Richard worked at the Umatilla Army Depot as a machinist until 1989, when he retired. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and trail riding on motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wanda Jean Stanley of Irrigon; father, Byron Stanley of Indianola, Iowa; son, Mike Stanley of Irrigon; brother, Bill Stanley of Iowa City, Iowa; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Stanley, and a son, Mark Stanley.

At his request, there will be no services held. Disposition was by cremation.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of the arrangements.
