All-terrain vehicle enthusiasts in Stanfield might want to attend Tuesday night’s City Council meeting at 7 p.m.

City Councilors will consider the second reading of an ordinance allowing ATV use on city streets.

If passed, the ordinance would allow licensed drivers 18 years of age or older to drive Class I and II ATVs on streets within the Stanfield city limits during the day. After dusk, the proposed ordinance prohibits ATVs from city streets. The proposed ordinance also states passengers under the age of 16 must wear a helmet.

Council members have already approved a first reading of the ordinance, which is modeled after a similar ordinance passed in Pilot Rock.

City Manager Scott Pingel said there have been some questions about the proposed ordinance.

Pingel also said City Councilors have not shown much opposition to the proposed ordinance.

For a full description of the proposed ordinance, pick up a copy at City Hall, 160 S. Main St. The council meets in council chambers at 7 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 150 West Coe Ave.

There will be an opportunity for public comment.
