HERMISTON — Shirley R. Edwards of Irrigon died on Feb. 9, at an adult care home in Hermiston at the age of 92.

She was born on July 3, 1914 in Portland to Wallace and Mamie Kiernan Garside.

Shirley was raised in Portland and graduated from Gresham High School. Shirley moved to Hawaii in 1960 and lived there until 2005. She had worked as a travel agent in Hawaii from the late 1960s until the late 1980s. She moved to Irrigon, Oregon in 2005 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. Shirley enjoyed traveling, playing cards, needle point, crossword puzzles, and playing golf.

She is survived by her son, Wallace "Wally" Telford and his wife Karlan, Irrigon; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Mack; and sister, Virginia Peterson.

At her request there will be no service.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of the arrangements.
