The third annual Senior Health Fair will bring vendors, demonstrations, activities and entertainment to Hermiston next week.

The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Hermiston Conference Center. Sponsored by Good Shepherd Medical Center, the Healthy Communities Coalition and Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation, the event is free for participants.

“There will be lots of vendors, lots of good information and lots of things going on,” Kathie Mallory, the chairwoman of the Senior Health Committee of the Healthy Communities Coalition, said. “We hope we have a good turnout.”

During the fair, a demonstration or activity will take place every 30 minutes, including presentations on Medicare basics, cooking, trusts and wills, exercise, cancer and keeping animals healthy.

More than 30 vendors have signed up for the fair, and screening tests for blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar will be available.

Tom Denchel Ford has also donated use of a van for the day. Bill Mallory will transport seniors to the fair. To request transportation, call 541-667-3509 before the event.

This is the second year the Senior Health Fair has taken place at the convention center because the event outgrew its original location. About 200 people attended last year.

For more information about the event, contact the Good Shepherd Education Department at 541-667-3509 or healthinfo@gshealth.org.
