Bessie Elizabeth Rogers

HERMISTON — Bessie Elizabeth Rogers died Feb. 12, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 92.

Bessie was born in Meckling, S.D., on Nov. 27, 1909, to W.C. and Bertha Speulda Lake. She had been a resident of Hermiston since 1946.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, and spent several years volunteering with the Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary and Hermiston Senior Center. She was a cook for the Hermiston School District, and a school teacher in South Dakota.

Her hobbies included quilting and making several stuffed bears.

She married Paul W. Rogers on Nov. 8, 1930, in Academy, S.D.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Rogers; her parents; and four brothers.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Eldon P. “Bud” and Kay Rogers of Hermiston; three grandchildren, Karyn, Kristi and Todd; four great-grandsons and five nieces.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Burns Morutary Chapel in Hermiston. Burial followed in the Hermiston Cemetery.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
