UMATILLA — The Umatilla Vikings started their baseball season last week with a pair of non-league double headers. Tuesday the Vikings travelled to Boardman to open the season against the Riverside Pirates. Riverside jumped all over Umatilla early in game one and won easily 26-0. Game two would end after three innings due to darkness with the Pirates winning 5-0.

Saturday the Vikings played host to the Union Bobcats. Union displayed some of their long ball power in game one, winning 10-6, but Umatilla would rally in game two to gain their first victory of the young season 11-10.
