The Echo School Board has offered Raymon Smith the school district's superintendent position, agreeing to offer him a two-year contract.
Smith said he looks forward to continuing the great things happening in the Echo School District, the chance to be be involved in the classroom and the opportunity to work closer to his family.
Smith was the superintendent of the Arlington School District the past four years.
Director Lloyd Ferge said Smith was the logical choice, as he scored the highest on the board, staff and community evaluations.
Trevor Pyke, Echo Schools language arts teacher, said the staff were pleased by the choice.
"From the interview Smith seemed like a strong candidate. He was confident, personable, and we as a staff felt we could work with him and he'd be a great fit here," Pyke said.
Smith's salary was pending negotiation as of the Herald's deadline.
Other finalists for the position included Rainier Elementary School principal Paulette Johnson and Nixyaawii Community School principal Timothy Sprenger.
