This nation's huge stockpile of chemical weapons poses a danger to the public. The containers are old and will eventually leak. The chemical weapons need to be destroyed as quickly as possible.

But it would be extremely foolish to take unnecessary risks even if it speeds the process.

Yet, that's what the Pentagon is proposing as a way to meet the 2017 deadline to eliminate the weapons. Military leaders are proposing to ship the chemical weapons across state lines to four disposal sites, including Oregon's Umatilla Chemical Depot. The other sites are in Alabama, Arkansas and Utah.

No! No! No!
