F. Virginia Phillips

HERMISTON F. Virginia Phillips died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 74.
She was born on June 2, 1927, in Lake Creek to Adolf and Laverne Brown Pech. She married John Phillips on Sept. 3, 1947, in Lake Creek. They moved to the Boardman-Irrigon area in 1962 with their eight children.
She was a cook at some of the areas establishments over the years, including the Stokes Landing Senior Center most recently. She was a member of TOPS and the Irrigon Watermelon Festival Committee.
Virginia loved spending time with her family and helping others. She enjoyed playing the accordion, hunting, crafts, gardening, her dogs Casey and Kadie, and giving others message therapy. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Charles Lee Phillips of Yreka, Calif., Chester Phillips of Beaverton and Albert Phillips of Irrigon; daughters, Vivian Pearsall of Irrigon, Karen Spears of Boardman, Neta Howland of Baker City, Rita Chapman of Boise, Idaho, and Teena Patterson of Irrigon; 29 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Phillips; son, Johhny Gayle Phillips; and brother, Arthur Pech.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at the Boardman Community Church. Burial followed at the Riverview Cemetery in Boardman.
