HERMISTON — Bright eyed, perky, 8 pound 8 ounce Jillian Alice Rudolf didn’t waste any time making news for herself.

The 8-pound, 8-ounce girl, born to Allison and Ryan Rudolf of Ione, earned the distinction Jan. 1 of being the first baby born in Good Shepherd Medical Center in 2002.

Jillian was born at 3:54 p.m. Tuesday.

“We’re ecstatic,” said dad Ryan, a social studies school teacher at Ione Middle and High School and the couch of the junior varsity girls basketball team.

Mother Allison says she is delighted to be a mom.

“I’m thrilled. I couldn’t be happier,” Allison said.
