Thelma P. Moyes Murphy

IRRIGON — Thelma P. Moyes Murphy died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at her home in Irrigon at the age of 80.

She was born on April 30, 1921, in Preston, Idaho, to Parley and Charlotte Rawlings Watson.

She was a member of the Boardman Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Hazleton LDS church, and the Hagerman LDS church. She loved to crotchet and do church work. She sold Avon for more than 30 years. Thelma also worked in restaurants as a waitress. She married Albern Moyes in 1939 in Gooding, Idaho, and he died in 1972. In 1997, she married Rellis Murphy. He died in 1998. She moved to Idaho in 1996 and then returned to Irrigon in 1999.

Survivors include her daughter Cindy Harley of Irrigon; brothers Amos, Don, Cecil, Mike, and Junior Watson; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Albern Moyes and Rellis Murphy; and one brother, Dean Watson.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the Boardman Ward of the LDS church. Burial will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, ept. 12, at the Hagerman Cemetery in Hagerman, Idaho.

Memorial contributions may be made to the LDS Memorial Fund in care of any of the LDS churches to which Thelma belonged.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of the arrangements.
