HERMISTON -- The murder trial for a young mom accused of giving her newborn a tainted bottle has been delayed three months.

Michelle Leann Barry's lawyer has asked for more time to bring in an expert witness in the first-degree manslaughter case.

The trial is now scheduled to start Oct. 22 in Umatilla County Circuit Court, according to District Attorney Dean Gushwa.

Prosecutors allege Barry, 22, ground up painkillers and antidepressants and dissolved the powder in a baby bottle, then fed the mixture to her month-old daughter in the early morning hours of March 29, 2007.
