PORTLAND — Alejandro “Alex” Montenegro-Sanchez died Dec. 10, at Emanuel Legacy Medical Center in Portland following an accident being struck by a car crossing Highway 395 north of Hermiston on Dec. 9.

Alex was 12 years old. He had lived in Hermiston all of his life. He attended seventh grade at Armand Larive Middle School.

Alex is survived by his mother, Irene Sanchez; father, Juan Montenegro; grandparents, Seferina Benavides and Domingo Benavides; brothers, Rafael Flores, Jesus Sanchez, Eric Montenegro and Abel Rodriguez; sisters, Rejina Sanchez Flores and Jessica Emma Montenegro; several aunts, uncles and cousins; two nieces and one nephew.

Recitation of the Rosary was held Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Burns Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Dec. 14, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial followed in the Hermiston Cemetery.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
