Elva Flores Martinez

RICHLAND, Wash. Elva Flores Martinez died Dec. 25, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash., at the age of 59.
She was born on June 20, 1942, in Mexico to Damaso and Amelia Solis Flores. She lived in Mexico until 1952 when she moved to Texas.
She married Joe Martinez in July of 1962 in Indio, Calif., and lived in Ventura County until 1980 when they moved to Mission, Texas. She moved to Stanfield in 1990 and had lived there since.
She had worked at Gilroy Foods in Umatilla for the past 10 years. She was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed the Wildhorse Casino; traveling with her sister, Albeza Gutierrez; cooking; gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Joe Jr., Esequel, Daniel and Victor Martinez, all of Stanfield; daughters, Maria Mendoza of Hermiston, Maria Dechand of Echo and Rosemary Martinez of Boardman; brothers, Roberto, Sotero and Dagoberto Flores, all of Mission, Texas, Gustava Flores of Selma, Calif., Juan Anjel Flores of Texas, Arturo Flores of Oxnard, Calif., and Mario Alberto of Mission, Texas; sisters, Petra Lopez of Mission, Texas, Albeza Gutierrez of Irrigon and Felicitas Montelongo of Oxnard, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Martinez; parents; and one brother, Damaso Flores Jr.
Rosary was held Thursday, Dec. 27, at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Funeral mass was held Friday, Dec. 28, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial followed at the Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon.
