Freezing rain is expected in the lower Columbia Basin and foothills of the Blue Mountains beginning today at 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

A warning has been issued until 4 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to affect cities across the region, including Hermiston, Boardman, Ione, the Tri-Cities and Pendleton.

Ice accumulation is expected up to a tenth of an inch, making roadways and other surfaces slick and hazardous. Temperatures will remain below freezing.
