Opportunities to engage in activities are flying off the shelves as the Umatilla Public Library recently announced several upcoming events.

In addition to going to the library (700 Sixth St.), people are invited to several gatherings that will include the Umatilla Public Pop-up Library. Be sure to check out these events: Friday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. during the Kiwanis Park ribbon-cutting; Tuesday, Sept 10 at 5 p.m. during the Master Trail Plan ribbon-cutting at Umatilla City Hall; and Thursday, Sept 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the outdoor book sale at Village Square Park. The library also plans to “pop-up” in other locations in Umatilla — watch for pop-up library signs.

Also, the library will host Movie & Snacks the last three Fridays of September at 3 p.m. — “Toy Story” (Sept. 13); “Toy Story 2” (Sept. 20); and “Toy Story 3” (Sept. 27).

Also, as part of the American Library Association’s “Library Card Sign-Up Month, people can receive entries for a chance to win a $50 Wal-Mart gift card, provided by the Umatilla School District. To enter the drawing, refer Umatilla residents to sign-up for a library card during the month of September.
