The city of Umatilla is asking for volunteers to help plant trees along Sixth Street.

As part of the city’s work on its Tree City USA designation, the city will be planting a total of 73 trees on Saturday, March 13, starting at 8:30 a.m. Coffee and snacks will be provided.

Registration is required online by March 4 at secure.rec1.com/OR/umatilla-or/catalog.

The city has also announced it will no longer allow parking along Third Street, and signs have been placed by the Public Works department to notify drivers of the change.

Craft kits offer St. Patricks Day fun

Hermiston Parks and Recreation continues to offer craft kits to keep families occupied during the pandemic. The latest kit is a St. Patrick’s Day-themed collection of crafts that includes a mini pot of chocolate “gold coins,” coloring sheets, supplies for a “leprechaun trap” and various crafts.

Supplies are limited and kits cost $10. Kits can be ordered at www.hermistonrecreation.com and can be picked up starting March 8.

Music scholarships available

Applications for the Oregon Music Hall of Fame college scholarship program are available, with a deadline of May 15.

Each applicant should be a student studying music and graduating spring 2021 from an Oregon high school and continuing to college in the fall of 2021 with a major or minor in music.

Four scholarships of $2,500 each are available for 2021. Questions may be emailed to info@omhof.org; visit the website at www.omhof.org, where an online version of the application is available. All items must be mailed together, in order to qualify, to Oregon Music Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 82173, Portland, OR 97282.

Senior meals include roast beef

The Harkenrider Senior Activity Center menu for Thursday, Feb. 25, is roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and dessert.

For a Meals on Wheels delivery in Hermiston, call 541-567-3582 before 10 a.m. to place an order. To pick up a meal from the center at 255 N.E. Second St., call the same number before 11 a.m. Meals are $4 and can be picked up between 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

The Boardman Senior Center is now providing meal delivery. Meals are $4 paid upon delivery. Call 541-481-3257 to order.
