Blue Mountain Community College has appointed Connie Green as interim president.

Green will take over operations of the college from Vice President of Instruction John Fields on March 1, according to a news release. Fields has been in charge since former president Dennis Bailey-Fougnier resigned on Feb. 11, citing health concerns.

Green, a retired past president of Tillamook Bay Community College, also came to BMCC as interim president from November 2018 to April 2019 prior to the hiring of Bailey-Fougnier.

“We are so pleased that Dr. Green is coming back to BMCC during this transition phase,” Board of Education Chair Jane Hill said in a statement. “The faculty, staff, students and board will all be at an advantage because she will hit the ground running.”

Prior to retiring after six years as TBCC’s president, Green spent 30 years in various positions at Chemeketa Community College and two years as a policy advisor for the state’s Community College and Workforce Development program, according to the news release. She holds a PhD in education, policy and planning from University of Oregon.

The board plans to launch the search process for a new college president soon. For more information about Blue Mountain Community College, visit
