More than a million Oregonians who used a debit card to buy gas at an Oregon ARCO am/pm gas station between Jan. 1, 2011, and Aug. 30, 2013, will receive a check in the mail for $94.42 in the coming weeks.

According to a news release from Oregon Consumer Justice, the checks are not a scam and can be cashed or deposited. They are part of a settlement of a class action lawsuit against the oil company BP, which lawyers argued illegally charged Oregonians a 35 cent debit card fee during the time period above.
