For three years, children in three of Hermiston's disadvantaged neighborhoods have had a program to bring literacy materials to their backyards once a week, but without volunteer support, that program is coming to an end.

The Hermiston Public Library began hosting the outreach program "Ready, Set, Zoom!" three years ago through a $45,000 Library Services and Technology Act grant. Modeled after the library's successful Story Time program, Ready, Set, Zoom! was originally intended to focus on early literacy.
