The League of Women Voters of West Umatilla County has launched a nonpartisan election resource for area voters.

Voters can find “detailed candidate information” for local races in Hermiston, Umatilla, Stanfield and Echo mayoral and city council races on www.VOTE411.com.

Information on the national races is also available on the website.

The website is also a place where voters can find voter registration tools, polling place locations and other election information prior to and on Election Day.

“Vote411.org is the nation’s premiere online election resource and the League of Women Voters of West Umatilla County has added our community’s information to VOTE411.org so that it can serve as a resource for all voters in our area,” said Anne Emmons, president of the West Umatilla County chapter.

According to a press release, approximately 20 million voters in 2008 found the information they needed on Vote411.org, many of them young people and first-time voters.

The League of Women Voters of West Umatilla County meets at the Eastern Oregon Higher Education Center at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday for a regular meeting in room 126 or 127.

The group will be viewing the vice presidential debate at 6 p.m.
