George E. “Gene” Langley

Jan. 26, 1941-Feb. 1, 2002

UNION — George E. Langley, 61, died Feb. 1, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland.

George was born on Jan. 26, 1941, to George A. and Odell L. Langley in Vancouver, Wash. He had been a resident of Union for the past eight years.

He served in the Navy from 1959 to 1962. He worked in construction for his father from 1962 until 1977. From 1977 to 1993, he worked for and with his brother, Louis Langley, in construction.

He loved to play golf in Echo, fish, hunt, play, pool and play his guitar.

He married Marla Dechand of Hermiston in 1966. They had three children: Kevin, Eddie and Tina, all of Spokane, Wash. George and Marla divorced in 1979.

He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Langley, in 1991.

He is survived by his mother, Odell of Union; two sisters, Anita of Spokane, Wash., and Shirley of Gresham; one brother, Louis of Hermiston; three children, Kevin, Eddie and Tina; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Disposition was by cremation.
